A New Age of Goodbye The landscape of social media is an interesting one. Not too long ago, we heard of the passing of ones we knew and ones we both knew and loved in typical grapevine fashion. But social media has created a brand new grapevine—where news of someone passing reaches us quickly, or you find out by random posting of random people. It also has created a new kind of friend—one you may never meet but whose posts brighten your day like any other. Or cultivates friendships that would’ve never blossomed if not for the unearthing of similarities that would’ve remained hidden from view. January has been an odd month for me for some time, as it seems to have taken the most from this mortal plane. The most unexpected feeling has come from pages once active, now seemingly frozen in time. A before and after that suddenly stops.
